We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

This quote is attributed to Albert Einstein. It reminds me of how persistent we are with our own way of thinking. Even when that thinking gets us nowhere, we cling to it like a lifeline to our success and happiness.

Maybe it is because as children we are foolishly taught that if we don't understand something, all we need to do is 'think harder' and it will magically become clear. Instead of learning to change our way of thinking, we learn to continue with wrong thinking with the hope that someday it will click and our lives will fall into place. They won't.

Our lives are a reflection of how we see the world. How we see the world is a direct result of our thinking. Yet, we hold fast to old thought patterns because they are familiar and easy and don't require any work.

Consider your thinking today and how it relates to obstacles in your life. Practice viewing your life through a different lens, look at it from different angles and consider how changing your thinking can bring solutions to your problems. It takes some work, but the effort will be worth it.

Today, I am grateful for soft October rain, for fallen leaves and balmy air. I am grateful for moisture on my face, bare foot weather and the lingering bees that visit late-season blooms.
I am grateful for the promise of another day, the joy of fall and for trees adorned with bright colors as they bid summer farewell.
I am grateful for old friends and new, for family and for pets, as they make my life full.
And, I am grateful for you, dear reader, as you stop to share my day. May you find solutions to all your problems by changing your thinking and how you view the world.

Your imagination is your preview of life's coming attractions. Albert Einstein

Sometimes, we get so busy with the little details of our lives that we forget to dream. We become trapped in the here and now and overlook the fact that there is more than the moment to consider. When we forget to dream, when we forget that there is a world beyond our limited view, we still the power within ourselves to go beyond.

Take the time to dream, today. Refine your goals and begin the journey of working steadfastly to achieve them. Renew the mind by casting away your defeating thoughts today and filling it with positive and uplifting thoughts.

Still the voice that tells you you are not good enough, or smart enough or good looking enough to achieve your goals. You are. You always have been.

Today, I am grateful for sunny skies and singing birds. I am grateful for flowers, butterflies and trees. I am grateful for the gentle sound of the wind in as it flutters the leaves, for hummingbird that flashes in the sun and for fluffy white clouds against a rich blue sky.

I am grateful for family and friends who share the moments of my life, for neighbors and for community. I am grateful for wind chimes that bring music to the soul.

And, I am grateful for you, dear reader, as you stop and share my day. May you cultivate a spirit of imagination as you go forward in the direction of your dreams.

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." — Albert Einstein

I can't claim the credit for finding today's quote, as it came from my incredible teenage daughter who never ceases to amaze me with her grasp of things that lie just beyond the surface.

Consider the comparisons you make today as you measure your success in striving to reach your goals. Judging yourself against the achievement of others or against what you think you should have achieved is no different than judging the fish by his ability to climb a tree.

Cultivate the habit of working to reach your goals and dreams, knowing that you will get there in your own way and in your own time--for inside you lies the genius to accomplish great things.

Today, I am grateful for Orion that sparkles in the night, for the moon that sends its glow back upon the earth and for night skies that fill me with awe.

I am grateful for the warm, peach sky that announces the arrival of dawn. I am grateful for clear black skies that melt slowing into blue. I am grateful for the swollen buds that adorn the trees waiting for the right moment to burst forth into green-gold leaves.

I am grateful for the call of the crow, its swift and silent flight and for its eagerness to start the day. I am grateful for treetops that catch the morning light, for hills that come alive with the touch of the sun and for rolling mounds of snow not yet melted into the earth.

I am grateful for family that brings inspiration when I least expect it, warmth when I need it most and laughter.

And, I am grateful for you, dear reader, as you stop to share my day. May you be filled with your inner genius as you go forth in the direction of your dreams.

Your imagination is your preview of life's coming attractions. Albert Einstein

Imagine for a moment that you have the power to bring anything into your life that your heart desires. Imagine that there are no limits either physical or financial. Imagine that it were impossible to fail. What would you choose to do? Go ahead, take a moment to form the image in your mind. Now hold that image.

Now tell me, what is preventing you from accomplishing that goal? Oh, I'm sure you can come up with more reasons than you can name and some of them may be pretty convincing--but the truth is all that is preventing you (or me) from reaching those goals is our beliefs about reaching them.

Consider your heart's desires today and evaluate the real stumbling blocks that stand in your way. Brainstorm ways to overcome them and set short term goals that will lead you in the direction of your dreams.

Today, I am grateful to be filled with energy, for a productive day's work and for a clear sound mind. I am grateful for what surely must be the last winter's storm, for warm dry socks and slippers.

I am grateful for a hot shower, for the smell of clothes dried on the line and for bumble bees that will return when it is time. I am grateful for soft pillows that cradle me to sleep, for cats and their relaxing purr, and books.

I am grateful for family and friends who bring a smile, for children who put all their energy into play and for the elderly who share their wisdom with the world.

And, I am grateful for you, dear reader, as you stop and share my day. May your imagination be vivid and and your future be bright as you go forward in the direction of your dreams.

Sometimes we should express our gratitude for the small and simple things . . .

It is easy to express gratitude when things in your life are running smoothly, but a little more difficult when things get rough. We ha...
